Swim Across the
Channel August 21, 2008
|

Hi. My name is Dave Galli and I am an adrenaline junkie.
In the summer of 2008 I will be swimming from Catalina Island to mainland California to raise money and awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Catalina Island and California is separated by the San Pedro channel which spans approximately 20 miles.
I chose to swim the Catalina Crossing because I have always been intimidated by the water. The average temperature during the month of August in roughly 60 degrees and the waves could reach heights of 8 feet. This is not a race. There is no one else swimming with me. A solo swim requires the individual to remain in the water at all times without contact.
I am swimming for ALS for several reasons. Frankly, the disease scares me...even more than the Channel.
This website was designed to spread the word about the swim and also to keep everyone updated as the date draws closer. For more information on ALS, the Catalina Crossing, any upcoming races or training news, how to buy a t-shirt, or become a business sponsor click any of the links provided.
Thank you for taking the time to browse the site and if you have any questions//comments, feel free to drop me an email.
